Reading is an important key skill and is taught every day in school. It is also important to read with your child every day at home. This not only encourages a love for reading but it equips them with the skills to access a world of knowledge. Please read with your child for at least 10 minutes a day and sign their homework diary after each read. This will then be noted at school and your child will receive a mark on the ‘Raving Reader’ chart. Children will receive prizes based on the number of marks that they collect.

The children also have many fantastic interactive books to read on Bug Club. Children will be assigned books to read and answer questions on. In time, each class will have a competition to see who can read the most books each month.

In Year 3, children will receive their homework on a prepared sheet each Friday. Children will receive topic/English, Maths and SPaG homework each week.

SPaG homework will usually be ten spellings, which will be taught on a Friday. The children will be expected to use some of the different strategies that we teach to help them learn the spellings, ready for their test the following Friday.

Maths homework is set on the website My Maths (if you are using a tablet, you must download the app ‘Puffin academy’ in order to gain access).

Topic homework could be an array of different activities based around the IPC topic at the time. The homework set for topic may have a different completion date! Please be aware.
