Reading

Reading is important and the teachers in Year 4 expect children to read for at least 10 minutes a day and to get their reading record signed each day. If this is done, and brought into school, each child will receive a mark on the class ‘Raving Reader’ chart which will gain them prizes! The more they read, the better the prizes!

The children also have many fantastic interactive books to read on Bug Club. Teachers assign children books to read and answer questions on. Each class has a competition to see who can read the most each month.

Can you read the most books and be on the leader board?

Homework

In Year 4, children will receive their homework on a prepared sheet each Friday. Children will receive topic, reading and spelling homework each week. In addition, maths homework will be set on mymaths (if you are using a tablet, you can download the app ‘Puffin academy’). Please contact your class teacher if you have lost your login details.

Spellings will be tested on a Tuesday and new spellings sent home on Wednesday. Each week the children will be taught different strategies to practise their spellings which can then be used at home. Please talk to your child about what games and activities they have done in their spelling lessons.
