Welcome to our Year Six Page!

In Year Six we… challenges, pushing ourselves, growth mindset, preparing for high school etc.

Welcome to Our Classroom

There is never a dull moment in Year 6 as every spare second can be spent at the interactive games and activities. We like to beat each other on the timed matching activities.

We are always encouraged to ask questions and have created a set of class rules to make sure everyone is listened to. We appreciate and respect each other’s views.

Our classrooms are bright and colourful with lots of interactive displays to help us with our learning. We especially like our working walls for literacy and numeracy as they really help us focus on the topics we are currently working on.

In our classes we have lots of fantastic adults in our classes.

Miss Mapplebeck, Miss Barstow, Mrs Ahmed and Miss Hepworth are our class teachers.

We also have Mrs Race, Mrs Firth, Mrs Ali and Miss Rehman to help us with our learning.

Parental Information

In Year 6 we do PE on Tuesday – don’t forget PE kits!

The teachers in Year 6 expect children to read for at least 10 minutes a day – if their homework diary is signed to say this they will receive a tick on the class ‘Raving Reader’ chart which will gain them prizes! The more they read, the better the prizes!

The children also have loads of fantastic interactive books to read on Bug Club. Teachers assign children books to read and answer questions on. Each class has a competition to see who can read the most each month as well as Mr Young’s whole school Leader board in the hall. Can you read the most books and be on one of the leader boards?

In Year 6, children will receive a SPaG homework sheet every Friday, this need to be handed in a week after it is given out.

Maths homework is set weekly on the website My Maths (if you are using a tablet, you can download the app ‘Puffin academy’).
